Mikaere is from California, but has just finished her studies in Scotland. She is part of the Remedy Project’s art group. She works with an organization out of California that provides legal aid to those with claims of wrongful conviction. She joined the Remedy Project because of her belief that a fair, dignified, and effective justice system would be centered on breaking cycles of trauma and providing treatment for addiction and mental health, rather than systemic punishment and dehumanization.
